  1. most viewed

I would great to have a webpart where you can see the top N most viewed pages/products/blogposts or any documenttype in a repeater style.

It's a very common "widget" on a lot of websites.

    Thank you.

  2. Update integrated Captcha(s) to be state-of-the-art

The built-in Captchas are very simple and for years now easily broken by the bots.

In V8 there was added the "old" recaptcha - but it has a bad usability, often even human users are not able to give the correct answer.

The only solution is to use a newer captcha from the Kentico marketplace.

But it is usable only on forms.
To use it as a "core captcha", you have to modify the core-code of MessageBoard Webparts, Blog Post Comment-Webpart and so on.
This is not that easy and breaks any way the possibility to install updates/bug fixes...

    So,…

  3. Addition of Responsive Image Management to Media Libraries

It would be great to have Responsive Image Management added to Media Libraries. It is a really nice feature for page attachments and would be a great addition to Media Libraries.

    Thanks!

  4. Kentico MVC Content Only Pages URL Pattern Field Added into New Page Type Wizard

The New Page Type Wizard asks in Step 2 if you are creating Content Only Page Types. If you check this checkbox, nothing else changes in the Wizard for the remaining 5 steps and it is very easy to forget that the URL Pattern field of the Content Only Page Type should be filled in for MVC sites.

Suggestion: If the Content Only Page Type is checked in step 2, dynamically show a field that allows you to enter in the URL pattern right then and there (as an optional field).

  5. Forms - Redirect to url field

    Hello

For the Forms area, it would be nice to make the Redirect to url field, a URL Selector form control and not be a text box. This way we can point to a page in the CMS Tree without problems, but also be able to put Macro's in the URL path.

    Thanks

Hi Ilesh, I agree with you that within Forms module there can be a lot of UX improvements. Path or URL selector is definitely nice improvement for Redirect to URL field. Waiting for more votes. Thank you!

  6. Copied pages should initially be in edit state

Copying a published document should not make the copied version publish, as you should be able to decide whether that copy should be published or not.

At the moment that document becomes published by default, there should be a way for this not to be done automatically.

It should go to a draft state, therefore unpublished if using workflow.

  7. Outlook connector for Intranet Portal Package

One of the most compelling features of Sharepoint is the ability to view and edit shared online calendars directly in Outlook.
This sort of functionality would be a great addition to the document management features that come with the new intranet portal package!

  8. timezone display on admin site

Administration site does not display correct time (as set in timezone settings) except few places like Pages and Reports.

This must work across the board.
For example EventLog and Users last login timestamps are useless without being converted to site's timezone.

  9. Full Widget Property Inheritance

We use Widgets for almost every content in our pages.
Every Widget has the same “BASE” fields to get common settings working in every Widget an editor could use. This fields are e.g. “Headline Text”, “Headline Type”, “Show Headline”, “Show On Mobile Device”, “Background Color”, etc. Those fields are too complex to get this working with a Wep Part container.

Currenty, I used the “Clone” method to clone from a base Web Part. But this is very awful if the customer wishes to have a new common field in all Widgets. In this case I am forced to add the…

  10. Add .net 4.5 framework async support

It would be great if support for async requests / methods was added to the internal API, web forms/controls & Kentico's MVC implementation.

This would obviously be a paradigm shift for many developers but Microsoft has already shown how to manage having both async and synchronous APIs existing side-by-side to allow the most flexibility for developers.

I realize that Kentico makes great use of caching which helps alleviate heavy loads on the database but there are times, with highly dynamic sites, where querying the database is required.

Business logic calls to System.Net.WebClient would also benefit from utilizing a full async…

Hi, Thank you very much for this idea.

Code/API tweaks like this have to be done with caution and piece by piece. I am wondering what concrete scenarios required the async API in some way. Could you be so kind as to describe what did you implement with a need of async API?

Maybe an async version of ObjectQuery could be just enough.

    Thank you

  11. Detecting soft vs. hard bounces

Is it possible for Kentico to include or to look at the smtp reply codes when looking at the bounced emails, instead of only using the special key. This will mean that the task will look in the specified mailbox and look at the SMTP code and determine the type of bounce. Using these codes we can identify between a soft bounce and a hard bounce and most probably unsubscribe an email with a hard bounce. http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/tech/smtpreplies.html

  12. email priority

Kentico adds to email from email marketing this properties:
    X-Priority: 5
    Priority: non-urgent
    Importance: low

But I can not influence it. Please, add settings for it.

  13. Events (Booking System) enhancements

The following enhancements to the event booking module would be very useful.

    1) Ability to add users to events in bulk (in the admin section) via a selector. e.g. perhaps in a similar way that you would add users to a membership or role etc

    2) Ability to resend the Event Invitation email to ALL users in bulk. Currently you're only able to resend to individual users.. this leads me on to suggestion #3

    3) Ability to specify/apply a pre-defined email template for the "Mass Email" tab. This would satisfy #2 above. Currently, when using the mass emailer you're forced…

  14. Official support for Attribute Routing in Kentico 12 Mvc projects

Attribute Routing for Mvc has been official supported by Microsoft since October 2013.

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/webdev/2013/10/17/attribute-routing-in-asp-net-mvc-5/

Some developers in the .NET web community recognize it as a superior routing solution to Convention Routing, which is what Kentico 12 Mvc currently uses.

It can be shown that Attribute Routing scales much better in terms of maintenance and flexibility with large projects compared to Convention Routing. These large projects are exactly the type that benefit from using Mvc instead of Web Forms.

Sometimes a combination of Convention and Attribute Routing can lead to the best results for a site.

    If Kentico wants to empower…

  15. Importing of licence file

On the client portal we can upgrade and export all our licences to a text file. However, you don't provide a facility to import that text file in CMSSiteManager. Please add a button under Licences to import and replace existing licences with the new ones.

  16. Repeatable Elements

In certain other CMS-es it is possible to implement a repeatable field within a smartform, this way for exampel contents such as articles do not need to have a predefined number of fields/elements but can provide the flexibility to add as many as the user wishes.

  17. Create Page / URL and Media picker's for MVC Widget Properties window

Create Page / URL picker for MVC Widget Properties window.
It would be useful to be able to have a Page or URL Picker for when working with MVC Widgets..

It would also be useful to have a Media Picker, instead of having to upload a new image each time.

Right now, there are very limited controls that can be used here..

  18. Page stylesheet url to include cache breaking string

Stylesheets are usually cached in browsers, so users either need to clear the cache or wait till the cache expires for any change in css to be reflected. Ideal way to approach this would be to have a cache breaking querystring (like last modified date or latest version number) to stylesheet link that kentico adds to the header, so whenever we update the stylesheet it reflects immediately for a user.

  19. Tie booking system in with user accounts

The booking system doesn't store a user's id, only their email address. This makes it difficult to determine what events the user has attended if they ever change their email address.

  20. Allow A/B and Multivariant tests in MVC without the page-builder

I'd suggest that you allow new tests to be created "ad-hoc" in the CMS "A/B Tests" application.

The CMS user should be able to define a list of variant names within an ad-hoc test. These will be the variants.

Then in the MVC application Layout & Views something like this should be possible...

    if(@Html.Kentico().ABTest("MyTestCodename").Variant == "MyVariantName"){
// Add or change markup based on variant in use
    }

Additionally, having the ability to do log conversions against the current variant from within the controller would be required.

The segmentation options should still be available in the CMS UI.
