  1. Allow Javascript Files from the CMSSiteManager -> Development -> Javascript Files to be Content Staged

    Right now there are no staging tasks logged when you edit a Javascript file in CMSSiteManager in Kentico 7. It would sure be nice to content stage these files just like the rest of the objects in CMSSiteManager.

  2. Email Templates header and footer.

    Have the ability to have global headers and footers in email templates. It is a boring job to theme EVERY email on a social site ;-)

  3. Select which culture of a document to sync

    On multi-cultural sites, almost all of the time you only want to stage / sync one culture version of a document to the live site.

    Currently this is not possible, and all culture versions of the document are staged across.

    I would like to see either:

    a) each culture change shown as a separate staging item in the queue
    b) ability to define which cultures to stage when performing a sync
    c) or both?

    Open to suggestions on implementation.

  4. Detecting soft vs. hard bounces

    Is it possible for Kentico to include or to look at the smtp reply codes when looking at the bounced emails, instead of only using the special key. This will mean that the task will look in the specified mailbox and look at the SMTP code and determine the type of bounce. Using these codes we can identify between a soft bounce and a hard bounce and most probably unsubscribe an email with a hard bounce. http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/tech/smtpreplies.html

  5. Have a setting to require content editors to enter alternate text for all images.

    All images on a site should have their alternate text property set for accessibility reasons. There should be a setting that requires editors to set the alternate text property for all images.

  6. Provide better tag managment

    Given how tags are an important part of content strategy these days, Kentico CMS needs a better way to centrally manage tags so they can be easily updated, deleted, and added to documents, images, and files. The system does list all the tags and provides a way to see all the documents with a given tag, but there is no edit capability.

    The API does provide a way to manage the tags, but a nice UI is needed for administrators.

  7. Create "pre-configured web parts"

    It would be nice to have an area of the CMSDesk where we could create "pre-configured" web parts. I find that I need to show the same data on multiple pages... and I have to configure the same web part multiple times.

    Page inheritance does not always work. Nor does cloning a web part and setting default values (as suggested in the documentation).

    Let me explain: I have a web part being used in 15 different page templates. I needed to change the OrderBy value and had to do so for all 15 web parts individually.

  8. Reoccurring Calendar Events

    Have the ability to set a calendar event as reoccurring. Have an event be weekly, monthly, yearly or span multiple days.

  9. Tie booking system in with user accounts

    The booking system doesn't store a user's id, only their email address. This makes it difficult to determine what events the user has attended if they ever change their email address.

  10. Provide 'where used' and link checking functionality

    For users it is extremely hard to keep track of links, pages and images.
    Especially when the content tree or medialibrary needs to be restructured.

    I know there is already funtionality which creates aliasses automatically, but in the end that is not a real solution.

    So it would be great if you could see where a specific document or medialibrary-item is used.
    This could be done by analyzing the html which comes from the fckeditor.

    It would also be great if some kind of periodically link checking would be done, so the users get notified if there are any broken…

    Extend Event Booking form design with Online Forms and Workflow. Allow registered user to register event without entering information that is already in their profiles like name,email, and address. However, they need to enter details like logging, food allergy or food according to their religion prohibit, hotel, payment method (online or wire transfer), payment through payment gateway, etc. Event admin could manage and see reporting of events an booking

  12. Outlook connector for Intranet Portal Package

    One of the most compelling features of Sharepoint is the ability to view and edit shared online calendars directly in Outlook.
    This sort of functionality would be a great addition to the document management features that come with the new intranet portal package!

  13. A Few SEO Options

    A few seo options that would be nice to have.

    1. When adding a link to an external site, tick box to add the rel="nofollow" tag.

    2. Canonical link element. Build the canonical link element settings into the CMS

    3. Add a tick box option in the document properties - metadata options page to set the following tag: <meta name="robots" content="noindex" />

    4. Add function so you can manage the robots.txt file direct from the CMS. For multiple site installs could some form of rewriter work to allow a separate robots.txt for each site

  14. create more realistic usable booking system

    Booking should not be tied only to a calendar. If you have just couple of events the calendar is worthless – you need a list of bookable events grouped by locations or months. Having a booking system is a great idea but it needs to be more usable in real world.

  15. Integrate Newsletter subscription with Biz Forms

    It would be great if we could integrate into a Biz Form a check box that a user checks to indicate that they want to receive the site newsletter.

    This means a user filling in a for can subscribe in the one place instead of then having to go and subscribe to the Newsletter separately.

    Hello!

    In order to inspect this suggestion further, could you share few comments?

    What is the most common scenario? A simple check box with a predefined specific newsletter?

    Should the subscription be avilable only after the complete form is filled and sent?

    What do you think of the currently available solution – creating a Marketing Automation process, which is triggered by a form submission, can check if a specific checkbox is checked and based on this subscribes the contact to a newsletter?

  17. Preview pages in CMSDesk as "not authenticated" or as a selected other role.

    With permissions, security or web part settings some pages can look different to different users. When logged in as Administrator, If you want to view a page and see what it looks like to people that haven't logged in, you can't unless you log out. Logging out logs you out of CMSDesk too, so you have to log back in again to make an amend.

    Also you can't easily confirm "edit", "delete", "add new" buttons are only showing to the right users because Global Administrator sees everything all the time.

    I would like to have view options in the preview…

  18. Add a path selector for Media Libraries

    When creating web parts that rely on the Media Library content, it would be helpful to have a Media Library path selector control, instead of manually typing in the path, which can be problematic.

  19. Add support for Canonical Link Element

    In addition to "Redirect document aliases to main URL," (formerly a web.config appSettings directive), I'd like to see an option for "Use Canonical Link Element."

    With that option, the URL alias would be honored and persist in the address bar, but an indication of the actual URL would be made as a canonical link element in the <head>:

  20. Migrate documents from one document type to another

    It would be great to be able to migrate documents from one document type to another in CMS Desk (without using the SQL Import tool). This is especially useful when upgrading/overhauling/rearchitecting older Kentico websites.
