  1. Warning displayed when deleting media library item that is referenced somewhere

When deleting an item in the media library it would be great for kentico to warn the use of where the image is used. So these references can be changed before deleting the item.

  2. Addition of Responsive Image Management to Media Libraries

It would be great to have Responsive Image Management added to Media Libraries. It is a really nice feature for page attachments and would be a great addition to Media Libraries.

    Thanks!

  3. Built-in localization support for System.Web.Mvc.RemoteAttribute on data models

Most data annotation attributes are supported and localized automatically when a call to builder.UseDataAnnotationsLocalization(); is added in the ApplicationConfig file, which is great and we've adopted this across the board, however the RemoteAttribute does not appear to be supported.

It is used for real-time remote validation, such as checking if an email address is in use.

  4. Drag and drop content ordering for the order stories appear on the front end. The current "arrow" solution is archaic and slow.

We need to be able to drag and drop articles in the Featured Content Listing in order to change the order they appear on the front end. Using and up/down arrow is inefficient and cumbersome. Event a manual entry number solution would be a huge improvement.

  5. Full Widget Property Inheritance

We use Widgets for almost every content in our pages.
Every Widget has the same “BASE” fields to get common settings working in every Widget an editor could use. This fields are e.g. “Headline Text”, “Headline Type”, “Show Headline”, “Show On Mobile Device”, “Background Color”, etc. Those fields are too complex to get this working with a Wep Part container.

Currenty, I used the “Clone” method to clone from a base Web Part. But this is very awful if the customer wishes to have a new common field in all Widgets. In this case I am forced to add the…

  6. Add "Reset to default widgets" to page edit toolbar

The button would reset all Editor widgets on the page to the defaults set in the page template. This is useful when specific pages have been edited but we need to reset the widgets the ones in the default template.

  7. Smart search not to index content deleted or not visible webparts

The content of deleted editable text webpart is still remain in content in CMS_Document table and is indexed by smart search index (if set index type = page and set content field = DocumentContent)

Would like smart search not to index deleted or not visible content in the first place

  8. Need faster way of choosing which fields are visible when creating widgets

I'm working on a site that has some complicated web parts that are being converted to widgets. t is a very time consuming process to go through and select all the fields to be visible on the widget. It would be nice if you could select a bunch of fields to show as visible or not, or event just a make hide show all fields button.

  9. media library search deeper

We need the ability to search the entire media library and its sub-folder. For example i want to search an image by filename or title, and i have a sub-folders the query should penetrate inside that sub-folders.

  10. View webpart properties without checking out the template

When using versioning and checkout/checkin for templates I have to checkout a template not only yo modify webparts on the template but also to view the properties of a webpart.
I often need to just view the properties of webparts and this is not possible if another developer has the template checkedout.

I'd like to be able to open the properties window of a webpart in read-only mode when the template is not checkedout by me.

  11. Enable Kentico Admins to preview without publishing page

It would be really useful if there could be a 'preview to draft' mode so that admins can preview their changes before publishing to live. The existing preview mode shows you how the page will look on the front end, but the content is published at this stage. This often confuses users.

I understand we can do this with workflow but this would be great as a basic function.

    Thanks!

    Kelly

  12. Adding unique key constraints in custom tables

I don't believe there's a way to specify that a certain column in a custom table should be unique, beyond writing a custom insert event that tries to detect other items with the same field.
This would ideally be implemented using the SQL unique key constraint properties, and in the custom table Fields UI it could simply show as another "Validation Rule" dropdown option, or as a checkbox similar to "Required".

  13. Repeatable Elements

In certain other CMS-es it is possible to implement a repeatable field within a smartform, this way for exampel contents such as articles do not need to have a predefined number of fields/elements but can provide the flexibility to add as many as the user wishes.

  14. Exporting a part of the tree

It would be great to export a sub set of the tree.
As an example export the documents from "~/e-commerce/shoppingcartsteps/%"

This way you can easily create an export containing the shoppingcart templates and the documents, so you don't have to create those documents by hand.

Would make releases easier in my opinion.

    Best regards!

  15. Create "pre-configured web parts"

It would be nice to have an area of the CMSDesk where we could create "pre-configured" web parts. I find that I need to show the same data on multiple pages... and I have to configure the same web part multiple times.

Page inheritance does not always work. Nor does cloning a web part and setting default values (as suggested in the documentation).

Let me explain: I have a web part being used in 15 different page templates. I needed to change the OrderBy value and had to do so for all 15 web parts individually.

    It would be nice…

  16. Use the HTML5 placeholder attribute for watermark text across all webparts/controls

The HTML5 placeholder attribute is well supported in modern browsers and easy to polyfill for older browsers.

I would suggest that a polyfill should be implemented by the website developers rather than Kentico.

  17. Provide better tag managment

Given how tags are an important part of content strategy these days, Kentico CMS needs a better way to centrally manage tags so they can be easily updated, deleted, and added to documents, images, and files. The system does list all the tags and provides a way to see all the documents with a given tag, but there is no edit capability.

The API does provide a way to manage the tags, but a nice UI is needed for administrators.

  18. Automatically add semantics

Allow built in semantics (RDF, Open Graph) for documents, which can be configured easily. So for example a "product" document would automatically output semantic meta data (name, descriptions, photo, price, promotion, localisation information etc) without the CMS editor needing to fill in extra fields. Smart search could also use the meta data to help prioritise the search results. Perhaps there could be a choice in compliance too; facebook open graph, twitter cards, standard open graph etc. Semantics are becoming increasingly important for Web apps and e-commerce - it would be great to see it easily achievable in Kentico without the…

  19. Have a setting to require content editors to enter alternate text for all images.

All images on a site should have their alternate text property set for accessibility reasons. There should be a setting that requires editors to set the alternate text property for all images.

  20. Support ZURB's Foundation Front End Framework

ZURB's Foundation front end framework is in the same class as Twitter Bootstrap and makes it easier for developers to prototype and implement mobile first designs that work cross platform.

Currently the Kentico CSS and Foundation clash making editing in CMSDesk or in-page editing impossible (see here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/17055672/using-zurb-foundation-in-kentico-cms-portal-engine).

It would be great if this were not the case as deliverables from outside agencies or existing migration products may be based on this popular framework.
